He ido recopilando estas hermosas vistas del Caracas Country Club. Son una serie de serigrafías que datan de 1952.
Me entusiasmaron desde el principio. Los campos de golf fueron capturados en medio del estío tropical seguramente en un caluroso mes de mayo, cuando la inflorescencia escarlata de los Flamboyants y los Bucares espolvorea de rojo la grama amarillenta. Al fondo, asoma la casa club neocolonial y, en un rápido bosquejo sobre el Avila, cilíndrico, el Hotel Humboldt.
Están firmadas a lápiz. Ambas con el mismo ágil trazo en negro, rojo y verde de los paisajes, de un soslayado plumazo. La rúbrica de Zelma Dale está estampada en una. Margaret Bowles es en cambio la autora de la otra.
Pienso que Zelma & Margaret estuvieron juntas ese día en los campos de golf del Caracas Country Club. Ambas descansando bajo los árboles, ambas azoradas con las explosiones de escarlata, ambas rezagadas del party de golfistas. Ambas con la misma caligrafía, y la misma mano. Zelma & Margaret.
Y como hacía calor, y el sol brillaba cada vez más fuerte... decidieron dejarnos para siempre con la incógnita de cuál de las dos fue en realidad la flamboyante autora de las maravillosas vistas que he traído hoy para usted.

I have been recollecting these views of the Caracas Country Club. They are a series of serigraphies from 1952.
I felt enthusiastic about them from the start. The golf courses were caught amidst a tropical summer, probably on the hot month of May, judging by the inflorescence of scarlet Flamboyants and Bucares dusting with red the yellowish fields. In the background looms the necolonial club house and, in a quick sketch further up, the cylindrical Hotel Humboldt.
They are signed in pencil. Both with the same quick trace in black, red and green of the landscapes, with a sidelined stroke. The rubric of Zelma Dale signs one. Margaret Bowles is instead the author of the other.
I think Zelma & Margaret were together that day at the Caracas Country Club golf courses, both resting under the tress, both bewildered with the scarlet explosions, both lagging behind the party of golfers. Both with identical caligraphy, and the same hand. Zelma & Margaret.
It was hot, and the sun was getting stronger... So they decided to leave us for ever with the mystery of who of them was actually the flamboyant author of the marvelous vistas that I have brought for you today.
